Patient adherence to drug intake plays a critical role in disease outcome. This is even truer in the case of chronic diseases, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus, where multiple drugs need to be taken on a daily basis.
A characteristic example is illustrated by anti-hypertension treatments, in which patient adherence is only 50-60%, according to international literature. This means that 4-5 out of 10 patients do not take the medication that has been prescribed for them by their physician.
Notably though, the role of a patient’s family in pharmaceutical treatment adherence is also extremely important. Hence, patient relatives can also download the “pills on time” application, in order to remind their loved ones about their drug regimen.
The “pills on time” application has been designed in the Greek language and has been adapted to the needs of Greek patients. It works both on devices functioning on android operating systems (Google store), as well as on devices on ios (iTunes store).
