Following the measurements, volunteer orthopedic specialists offered guidelines. These measurements were carried out in the context of the clinical study OSTRIA (OSTeoporosis scReening tRIAl), conducted by ELPEN's Department of Clinical Studies. Already counting 3 years of operation, the study has so far obtained 6,000 measurements, in various parts of Greece.
More specifically, the OSTRIA epidemiological study, measures bone density (ultrasound measurements of peripheral bone density at the calcaneus) in Greek postmenopausal women (in accordance to the Greek National Organization for Medicines and the FDA clinical trials Identifier). In the context of this event and under the auspices of the 1st Obstetrics/Gynecology Clinic of the University of Athens, ELPEN supported actions to raise awareness about osteoporosis by distributing leaflets.
