INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES
ELPEN factory headquarters located at Pikermi,Attica, currently covers an area of approximately 10.000 m2 in terms of building facilities, on a plot extending well-over 15.000 m2. Additionally, at the Industrial Park of Keratea in Attica, ELPEN owns a plot extending over 12.000 m2, with an industrial building potential of approximately 14.000 m2 in industrial facilities.
Out of the 10.000 m2 in building facilities in Pikermi, 7.000 m2 are industrial facilities, 2.500 m2 are for the purposes of warehousing facilities, and 500 m2 are facilities allocated to the Department of Research & Development.
These industrial facilities house the following operations:
- Manufacture and quality control of medicinal products for human use
- Storage, order entry and distribution of medicinal products, para-pharmaceutical products and medical devices for human use
- Administrative affairs (accounting, stock management, IT, Department of Exports, Regulatory Affairs)
- Department of Research & Development
Production and Quality Control employ 180 specialized staff, 30 of which are highly-trained scientists.
Production and Quality Control facilities are built in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
It is at these facilities where the following dosage forms are manufactured:
- Oral solid dosage forms:
-tablets (standard & film-coated)
-capsules
-dry powder suspensions (multi-dose)
- Oral solid dosage forms containing penicillin (allocated its own Production Plant):
-tablets (standard & film-coated)
-capsules
-dry powder suspensions (monodose)
-dry powder suspensions (multi-dose)
- Oral liquid dosage forms
-oral liquid solutions (monodose)
- oral liquid solutions or suspensions (multi-dose)
- Inhaled dosage forms:
-dry powder for inhalers (blisters)
- nasal sprays (liquid)
- Liquid injectable dosage forms:
-small volume (ampoules)
- large volumes (bags)
WAREHOUSING FACILITIES
- Last year ELPEN constructed a new warehouse facility covering an area of approximately 3.000 m2 (about 1.000 pallets).
- The building is constructed in accordance to the demands of Good Manufacturing and Storage practices (aluminum panels, double glazing windows, floors finished with epoxy resins).
- The entire area is fully air-conditioned, and environmental conditions are fully monitored.
- The warehouse areas are strictly monitored, and the entry to the buildings is controlled via Closed Circuit Television System.
- Distribution is executed by ELPEN. Four fully air-conditioned trucks, which are compliant to the Good Distribution Practice's demands, are driven by trained personnel, who are responsible for the distribution of ELPEN's products. ELPEN's policy is that customers' orders should be fulfilled within 24 hours.
- The entire department (warehouses and distribution) functions in accordance with Good Storage & Distribution Practices.
