ELPEN supports the desalination project on Sikinos island run by "Aegean Team"

"Aegean Team" (Omada Aigaiou) is not just a bunch of travelling buddies, riding the waves together on inflatable boats: just as ELPEN is not simply the largest, entirely Greek pharmaceutical company, with an enviable 50-year presence in the European pharmaceutical sector.

In recent years, ELPEN has supported the endeavours of the 'Aegean Team', by endorsing the charitable and selfless efforts of the team's members who wish to be present for this "other" Greece: a Greece that is remotely located, fraught with enormous economic problems, and substantial shortages, under conditions that have dramatically progressed towards the worse due to the current financial crisis in Greece.

This year, as part of the Aegean Team's enterprises, ELPEN is actively involved (as one of three sponsors) in helping to develop a desalination plant on the island of Sikinos, a remote, forsaken Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea, one which is very difficult to reach by a commercial boat, as it is geographically located on a no-profit route.

These days, when the crisis is no longer a general, abstract notion, but rather a daily, ever-present, burning social issue, ELPEN has embarked on a number of substantial Social Responsibility projects in order to provide for vulnerable groups in the Greek population, to cultural and environmental associations in rural districts, and to the poor and destitute living in Greece.

In recent years, ELPEN has been actively supporting geographically remote areas (Evros, Lesvos, remote island formations) as well as vulnerable groups (Association of Families with Many Children, disabled persons), and is also strongly involved in projects that support culture and sports.
